£1860 raised for MacMillan Cancer Trust

Once again they gathered to honor the memory of one of Annanhill’s most notable members. More than eighty teams of three competed for the trophy in the Jim Speirs Memorial Tri-Am. The weather was fair but became increasingly breezy and it seemed that the early starters would have the advantage.

In the end, the winning trio was Annanhill members David Irvine, Stuart Ferrans, and Billy King. They recorded a Stableford score of 52 points. This narrowly beat the team of McLean, Jordan, and Lowther into second with White, Craig, and King taking Third Prize.

And prizes aplenty there were. A selection included nearest the hole at the fourth to Jim Smith, nearest the pin at the seventh to Neal McCormack, the same prize at the 13th went to Allan Griffin, and with probably the shot of the day, nearest to the hole at the 188-yard 17th went to Sam Goodwin whose ball came to rest just eighteen inches from the target.

Among a range of other prizes was a much sought-after day at Gleneagles donated by Stuart Mair of CARA Mortgage Services. This was the subject of a silent auction which was won in the end by well-kent Annanhill man Sanny Stewart. At the end of the day, a total of £1860 was raised which will be donated to MacMillan Cancer Trust.
