The Annanhill Seniors Open was held on Thursday 4th May. Eighty competitors, a mixture of club members and visitors, took part over the White course at the club. A good range of prizes were available to the players and the competition for these was as keen as a knife edge.

Dry but breezy conditions made the eighteen at Annanhill a real test. The best gross score of the day was recorded by Annanhill member Dennis Larman who signed for a seventy-nine. This was matched by Craig A Young but Dennis claimed the win on the countback.

The overall net competition saw Stuart Ferrans take the win with a score of 67 (88 -22). This was a very creditable performance, Stuart being the only player on the day who would break seventy.

The First Class net prize was a very tight affair. Four players ended their round on seventy-one. The win eventually went to Billy King (81 – 10) on countback. Marcus Boyd (83 – 12) and Edward Woods (81 – 10) took second and third respectively.

John Watson, a well-kent face at Annanhill, won the Second Class with a net 71 (88 – 17). He was chased hard by Alan Griffin (equally familiar to Annanhill regulars) who recorded the same gross but was undone by his slightly lower handicap ending on seventy-two net. Third place in this category went to Steven Skilling (91 – 17).

The second position in the Third Class was awarded to Tom Wilson who recorded a net creditable net seventy-one. In third position was Peter Clark who on the day took one stroke more than Tom.
